Reflections on Cape Town

In early September, Guernsey Finance led a delegation of Guernsey captains of industry to Cape Town. There they met representatives from a learning through charity, CoolPlay, to see first hand how it transforms the lives of youngsters through sport. Guernsey the preferred domicile for tech funds

Guernsey’s reputation as a home for tech-focused fund managers has been reinforced with the successful launch and final close of Telstra Ventures Fund III.
The fund has raised $350 million in commitments and aims to expand venture capital firm Telstra Ventures’ diversified portfolio of technology-focused companies, offering entrepreneurs access to revenue growth and accelerated global reach.

TISE selects global and local beneficiaries of Carbon Offset sponsorship for Sustainable Finance Week

The Carbon Offset Sponsor for Guernsey Sustainable Finance Week has selected a reforestation project in Costa Rica and a local nature conservation charity as its two beneficiaries.
Through its sponsorship, The International Stock Exchange (TISE), headquartered in Guernsey, will make a monetary donation which exceeds the amount required to offset the event’s carbon footprint, including scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
For its international beneficiary, TISE has selected BaumInvest Mixed Reforestation in Costa Rica, which aims to reforest pasture land previously used for extensive cattle ranching in northern Costa Rica, using mixed stands of various indigenous tree species as well as teak.

Better global citizens – Guernsey and South Africa partner using sport as the catalyst for positive change

Earlier this month, a delegation of 32 business leaders from Guernsey’s financial services community visiting Cape Town, launched a partnership with the local sport-for-development charity, CoolPlay.
The captains of industry attended a mini netball and soccer tournament at one of the 21 CoolPlay partner schools in Cape Town, where they had the opportunity to meet the players (ranging from age nine to 13) and CoolPlay Champions, presenting them with sports kit. (The Champions are coaches, who CoolPlay have trained to have meaningful conversations with their learners and impart valuable life skills through sport.
