An impressive line-up of speakers has been confirmed for a now fully booked AI conference taking place in Guernsey later this month.
Jointly hosted by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission and Guernsey Finance, the one-day event which is titled: ‘AI and Finance in Guernsey: The Power and the Implications’ will investigate the potential opportunities and threats which AI presents for the financial services industry.
Keynote speaker Lord Johnson of Lainston CBE, UK Minister of State in the Department for Business and Trade, will be joined by experts with backgrounds in areas such as government, finance, education, regulation and cybercrime.
They include Professor Philip Treleaven, from the University College London, who will talk about AI and its implications for cybercrime.
Dr Dan Brown, also from the University College London, will discuss the automation of processes and the opportunities this presents for financial services.
Marianne Haahr, Finance Director for Global Canopy, a data-driven not-for-profit that targets the market forces affecting the environment, will discuss how AI is an enabler for environmental reporting.
In addition to providing insights into the wide-ranging issues impacting the financial services sector, the conference will also hear from Daniele Harford-Fox, Principal of The Ladies’ College and Maury Shenk, CEO of Learnershape, a leader in using AI and data science to accelerate enterprise learning, and General Counsel to PeopleCert, a global leader in the assessment and certification of professional skills.

Guernsey Finance Chief Executive, Rupert Pleasant, said, ‘The event programme and high calibre speakers and panellists confirmed for this event is truly world-class. It is fantastic to see the event take place in Guernsey and demonstrates the island’s ability to look at change and see opportunity.’
William Mason, Director General of the GFSC, said, ‘The rapid growth of AI will significantly impact the finance industry. This event is designed to help those attending understand these impacts more clearly and support Guernsey’s finance sector as it adapts to the changes AI will impose on many business models and business processes.’
The conference will take place on 28th June at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, and CPD points will be available for attendees.
